The United States has sent an Air Force aircraft to Nepal to deliver personnel and cargo in support of disaster-relief operations, according to Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren.
Michael McDonnell with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) talked with leaders of the Mayo Clinic and the Defense Health Agency (DHA) on April 21, 2015. McDonnell explained the education and training capabilities of the school's 3-dimensional, multisensory health care education and research simulator at the school’s Bethesda, Maryland campus.
When Maj. John Robinson, physician assistant, realized that service members and coalition partners were dying from injuries to non-compressible areas, he traveled to Forward Operating Bases in theater and distributed tourniquets, training first responders, medics and medical officers on proper ways to use them to control hemorrhaging and help save lives.
