Invitation to 4th International WM Forum – 17 March 2013
WMUK is pleased to invite your attendance at this year’s International Patient Forum, which will have lots of new information about treatment and trials and is at a newly equipped venue conveniently located in Central London.
We offer a particularly warm invitation to our European friends, and draw your attention to the EWMnetwork meeting on the afternoon of Saturday 16 March and the international “Meet the Doctors Dinner” on the Saturday evening. We hope to see you there!
Why Come?
You will be able to hear from and meet the key experts as well as talk informally to fellow patients and carers about the issues we all face with WM. Even though WM is a rare disease, together we can make a difference! You will be able to read the inspiring stories of others on the “Patient Wall”, and ask questions direct at the “Meet the Doctor Lite” sessions.
Final Programme released - The detailed programme is available as a download http://bit.ly/13j94BI and contains a registration form for UK registrants or those with UK bank accounts as well as details regarding accommodation and the Saturday night dinner.
Those wanting to attend from outside the UK will need to register online at:

“Ask the Doctor Lite”
These sessions give individual patients and carers the chance to talk one-to-one about their individual concerns with leading WM specialists, in line with the WMUK aim of bringing doctors and patients closer. You sign up on the day, and it’s “first come first served”. This is in addition to the more general Ask the Doctors session that will end the Forum. For the latter we are asking for interesting general questions, which you can send to us in advance at this email address.
Our Keynote Speaker is Dr Robert Kyle, of the Mayo Clinic, one of the world's most experienced WM experts and Chair of the IWMF scientific Advisory Panel and IWMF Board Member. Many of our other speakers attended the WM workshop in Newport RI last summer, including: Dr Matthias Rummel from Germany, speaking on Bendamustine; Dr Monique Minnema from the Netherlands; and the UK's Dr Shirley D'Sa. Updated WM treatment guidelines for both UK and the Netherlands will be discussed for the first time at the meeting, as will fresh trials results.
European WM network meeting EWMn is holding a meeting on Saturday 16th March 3pm at the Thistle Hotel, Euston for their Country Affiliates . Their website is http://www.ewmnetwork.eu
The network is an association of European WM support groups and is keen to encourage and develop support groups in ALL European countries. Many countries do not yet have such groups. Could you get involved? If so EWMn can offer you help and support.
Contact Marlies Oom on: info@ewmnetwork.eu
All European registrants are very welcome to attend, but please let Marlies know.
Early registration is vital as we are all volunteers Thank you very much if you have registered but, if not, PLEASE don't leave registration to the last minute! Do also please let anyone else know who may be interested, including your clinic or specialist so they can forward it to their patients. Any problems registering, just e-mail WMUK at info@wmuk.org.uk
A large attendance sends out the message that the European WM community is organised and effective!
Best wishes, and here's to your very good health in 2013 ~
